Actress Donna D'Errico has been hospitalized with the potentially-deadly MRSA virus, according to a U.S. report. The former "Baywatch" star allegedly caught the infection after she visited a relative in an intensive care unit (ICU) and has since been admitted to the care of doctors.
On Tuesday evening, December 14, D'Errico posted on her Facebook page, "Prayer request - this time for me - a serious medical issue has arisen. Thank you for any and all prayers." The actress/model will remain in hospital until at least the weekend, according to TMZ.com.
However, a spokesperson for D'Errico told E! News, "She's doing fine. She'll be out [of the hospital] tomorrow. She's just staying for now as a precautionary measure." The rep added, "It is an unfortunate situation but she's recuperating well and looks great."
According to experts, MRSA infections indeed can be life-threatening. Many public health experts are alarmed by the spread of tough strains of MRSA. Because it's hard to treat, MRSA is sometimes called a "super bug."
