Lenny Kravitz Has Recorded A Touching Tribute to Teena Marie
Lenny Kravitz has recorded a touching tribute to Teena Marie, insisting he "would not be here" if the singer/songwriter had not saved him from "living on the street" when he was a teenager. The 54 year old, born Mary Christine Brockert, passed away in her sleep at her home in Pasadena, California on Sunday, December 26.
Kravitz, 46, has opened up about his bond with Marie, revealing she took him in when he was a teen - and he's convinced his life would have been very different without the late singer's care and nurturing. In a sombre video tribute posted on YouTube.com on Monday, the "Fly Away" hitmaker says, "I woke up to the tragic news that my longterm friend Teena Marie passed away."
"I just want to say that Teena Marie was a treasure. A genius. Composer, arranger, singer, musician. Unique... underrated by far. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Teena. She took me in when I was around 16... I was just a musician on the street, I was living from pillar to post. She took me in, she gave me a bedroom, she fed me, she cooked for me, she took care of me. She gave me instruments to play, she took me to all her recording sessions. She took me to concerts. She nurtured me and helped me to become who I am."
"I would not be here (without her). She changed my life not only as an artist but as a person who truly loved me for who I was. Teena... I will always love and respect you. Thank you for being my friend. Thank you Father, for the life of Teena Marie."

Eminem Has Taken Christmas to His Heart
Eminem has taken Christmas to his heart after almost missing out on one yule with his family at the height of his drug haze. The "Not Afraid" rapper suffered an overdose of methadone the week before Christmas in 2007 and has little recollection of the holidays, which he ruined for his family.
He says, "My whole month of December leading up to (the overdose), I don't remember s**t. All I remember is I was not able to get out of bed. I got up to use the bathroom. I was standing there, trying to take a p**s, and I fell. I hit the floor hard. I got back up, tried again - and boom, I fell again. And that time I couldn't get up."
The rapper blacked out and woke up in hospital. He tells Rolling Stone, "The first thing I remember is trying to move, and I couldn't. It's like I was paralysed... (and) I couldn't speak. The doctors told me I'd done the equivalent of four bags of heroin. They said I was about two hours from dying."
At that point, Eminem had no idea it was Christmas Day. He adds, "The first thing I wanted to do was call my kids. I wanted to get home, and show them that dad's OK... Being a father, wanting to be there with your kids. It's not a fun thing to deal with." The rapper checked out of hospital a week later.

Claire Danes Has Threatened to Sue A U.S. Newspaper Over False Reports
A representative for Claire Danes has threatened to sue a U.S. newspaper over false reports the actress has experienced permanent skin darkening around her eyes after endorsing an eyelash growth treatment. Danes joined Brooke Shields this summer as a celebrity spokesperson for Latisse, a treatment from the makers of anti-aging facial injections Botox.
Latisse bosses warn skin darkening is a reversible and less common side-effect of using the product. The actress documented her 16-week journey with the cosmetic in a video diary on the Latisse website, admitting she suffered redness around her eyes for "about a week" at first, but hadn't experienced any side-effects since.
The New York Post followed with a report suggesting the effected skin had permanently turned a shade of purple and yellow. However, Danes' representative has slammed the allegations. A statement to the newspaper reads: "Your claims are entirely false. We will pursue legal action if you print anything to the contrary. This story should be killed."
A spokesperson for Latisse confirmed company bosses had no knowledge of Danes' alleged side-effect, "We can only speak to what Claire has shared with us regarding her experience with Latisse, which is that she has been pleased with her results and continues to use the product. Claire's team has shared with us that she has not experienced skin hyperpigmentation following use of Latisse."
Lady GaGa's Meaty Ensemble at This Year's MTV Video Music Awards
Lady GaGa's meaty ensemble at this year's MTV Video Music Awards has been lauded by Time magazine editors as the number one Fashion Statement of 2010. The "Poker Face" hitmaker shocked at the September event when she donned a dress made from hide and cuts of meat, complete with a matching head piece and purse.
And GaGa's innovative dress has landed her on top of Time's annual countdown, beating weird and wonderful outfits by M.I.A., tennis superstar Venus Williams and Rihanna. Editors write, "If making fashion statements is your primary raison d'etre (reason for existence), it's easy to get bored. Exploding bra? Flamed out. Dress made of bubbles? Please. Using your hair as a bow? Not again. But a dress made of meat - with shoes, hat and purse to match - well, that's fresh."
"The carnivorous ensemble Lady GaGa wore to the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony, which is pretty much mecca for eccentric musical sartorialists, raised many questions: What does it mean? How was it made? Does she want sauce with it? GaGa's explanation of the flank frock - that if we didn't stand up for our rights, we'd be nothing but meat on our bones - seemed disappointing. We prefer to think of it as haute cutlet."

Actress Donna D'Errico has been hospitalized with the potentially-deadly MRSA virus, according to a U.S. report. The former "Baywatch" star allegedly caught the infection after she visited a relative in an intensive care unit (ICU) and has since been admitted to the care of doctors.
On Tuesday evening, December 14, D'Errico posted on her Facebook page, "Prayer request - this time for me - a serious medical issue has arisen. Thank you for any and all prayers." The actress/model will remain in hospital until at least the weekend, according to TMZ.com.
However, a spokesperson for D'Errico told E! News, "She's doing fine. She'll be out [of the hospital] tomorrow. She's just staying for now as a precautionary measure." The rep added, "It is an unfortunate situation but she's recuperating well and looks great."
According to experts, MRSA infections indeed can be life-threatening. Many public health experts are alarmed by the spread of tough strains of MRSA. Because it's hard to treat, MRSA is sometimes called a "super bug."

Johnny Depp Is Glad He Was Finally Able to Make A Movie Version of 'The Rum Diary'
Johnny Depp is glad he was finally able to make a movie version of Hunter S. Thompson's "The Rum Diary" - because it fulfills a promise he made to the writer before his death. The Hollywood star met cult author Thompson "many years ago" and claims he and the writer discovered a long-lost script at Thompson's home, which they agreed to work on as a film with director Bruce Robinson.
The script Depp and Thompson discovered was published as "The Rum Diary" in 1998, but the movie project fell through because Robinson had decided to take a break from Hollywood. So Depp was delighted when the filmmaker revisited the proposal following Thompson's death in 2005, as he can finally fulfill his promise when the picture is released next year.
He tells Britain's Culture magazine, "Hunter and I, many, many years ago, unearthed this script in his basement. He thought it was pretty good, and we made this deal in the middle of the night that we'd make it into a film and produce it together."
"A year or two later, we'd had meetings with financiers etc. Our first choice to direct then was Bruce Robinson... (But) he didn't want anything to do with movies... Hunter made his exit, and I pursued Bruce like a bandit, a fiend, and we got him."
Depp famously played Thompson in the 1998 big screen version of his book, "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".

When asked what she will do if "Country Strong" where she plays a fallen singer is nominated for a Golden Globe, the 38-year-old movie beauty jokingly said, "With a joint, hanging out with my girlfriends, I don't know, I don't expect anything from that."
